TITUSVILLE COMMUNITY ISSUES

How Andrew Connors plans to help Titusville thrive.

If elected as Titusville mayor, Andrew plans to lead by listening to local residents and creating actionable steps to address their concerns. Through his conversations with community members and his own first-hand experience, Andrew has determined that attainable housing, high-quality infrastructure, and improving water quality are top concerns.

Here’s why these issues matter:

Attainable Housing

One of the advantages of living in Titusville is its affordability. In fact, it’s 14% less expensive to live in Titusville than the average Florida city, according to the Economic Research Institute. However, the cost of housing is still on the rise. In April 2024, the median home sold price was $298,884, which is 2.6% higher than April 2023. Nearly half of renters in the Titusville housing submarket spend more than 30% of their income on housing, which is higher than among all county renters. When cost of living increases, people often have to make hard choices between things like paying the utility bill or getting groceries.

Andrew wants to ensure that Titusville residents don’t have to make these types of decisions because they have access to attainable housing.

Improve Water Quality and Protect the Lagoon

The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) did an annual inspection of Titusville’s 10 aging freshwater wells, which fulfill the city’s drinking water needs. Afterward, they expressed concern over the condition of the wells and, later, officially ordered Titusville to replace them. The city has provided the DEP with an action plan to resolve the issue and — if elected — I plan to help ensure they see it through. I also plan to prioritize the protection of the Indian River Lagoon, which has struggled with harmful algae blooms, seagrass losses, and fish kills, as a result of excess nitrogen from fertilizer and septic systems.

High-Quality Infrastructure

High-Quality Infrastructure

Aging infrastructure can cause a wealth of problems for Titusville residents, too, including sewage spills. Additionally, old roads can make for unsafe driving conditions. If elected Titusville mayor, I plan to focus on improving infrastructure and roadways, ensuring that residents and visitors alike are able to stay safe.

Through improved housing, water quality, and infrastructure, Titusville will continue to be a place that myself, my kids and the greater community can all be proud to call home.
